KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — Ford is temporarily pausing production of some SUVs at its Kentucky plant after a fire at a major aluminum supplier.
A report noted that Ford will temporarily cut production of at least five models starting this week.
The fire happened at a Novelis Plant in September, and reports indicate the plant will not be operational until 2026. However, the pause in SUV production is expected to last a week.
The Novelis fire could cause Ford to face a roughly $1 billion loss on operating earnings, according to a YIEH Corporation release.
Ford had also paused production at its other Louisville assembly plant, but operations resumed this week with only one of its two shifts.
An official from the United Auto Workers informed plant members about the decision last week.
