In three-plus decades asking coaches questions at press conferences, I’ve been interrupted more times that I could possibly count. But I’ve never had one throw up both hands and issue a command like a medieval guard standing in front of a drawbridge.

The question — or, at least, the part I managed to get out on Monday before I was summarily shushed — had to do with the latest name, image and likeness campaign at Rutgers . When fans arrive at SHI Stadium for Saturday night’s game against Oregon, they’ll see signage everywhere for the “R NIL” launch.
This, finally, is a real effort from the athletic department itself to bridge the gap between the Scarlet Knights and rich programs like one on the visiting sideline this weekend — or, as athletic director K
