SRINAGAR : Police in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday arrested a long-time absconder who had been evading arrest for the past ten years in connection with an attempt to murder case. Follow Us On G -N e w s | Whatsapp

Police identified the accused as Abdul Hamid Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Peerpora. He was wanted in FIR No. 81/2015, registered under Section 307 RPC (attempt to murder).

Officials said a warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued by the Hon’ble Court against the accused, who had managed to remain at large for nearly a decade. Acting on credible inputs, a special police team traced and apprehended him from his native area.
