An attorney urged a California appellate court on Thursday to overturn Paul Flores’ conviction in the murder of Kristin Smart, arguing that numerous errors made by a Monterey County trial judge harmed his client’s defense and led to a guilty verdict in 2022.

Solomon Wollack appeared via Zoom before a three-judge panel of California’s Second District Court of Appeal and argued that Flores’ murder conviction should be overturned because the trial judge failed to dismiss a biased female juror, improperly introduced uncharged evidence and provided incorrect jury instructions.
