As Delhi’s air turns toxic once again , the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has enforced Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the Delhi-NCR region.
The move to implement GRAP-I follows Delhi recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 211, placing it in the “poor” category — a level that can cause health discomfort, especially for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues.
WHAT IS GRAP?
The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is a set of emergency measures that come into force in Delhi-NCR when air pollution crosses certain danger levels. It’s designed to curb air pollution in stages depending on how bad the Air Quality Index (AQI) gets.
GRAP was first approved by the Supreme Court in 2016 and is implemented by the Commission for Air Quality
