In an unexpected, last-minute announcement following their Monday night win, the Bears revealed star wide receiver D.J. Moore would not be returning to Chicago with the rest of the team.
Instead, he stayed overnight in the Washington D.C. area "for precautionary medical attention."
The move was surprising given that Moore did not appear to be severely injured during the game, despite taking some hard hits, particularly in the first half.
Reporters at the scene said Moore was taken via ambulance from Northwest Stadium, with wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle-El by his side.
The circumstances surrounding Moore's hospitalization remained unclear Tuesday morning. The team said an update was expected around 4 p.m. CT Tuesday.
The Bears defeated Washington 25-24 Monday night.
