GRAND FORKS — A dynamic mobile quarterback who powers a Missouri Valley Football Conference opponent.

The Southern Illinois scouting report this week may sound a lot like the Youngstown State scouting report of a week ago.

No. 9 UND will travel to No. 12 Southern Illinois on Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff in Carbondale.

The Fighting Hawks, who beat Youngstown State 35-17 last Saturday, limited the yardage of Penguins' star quarterback Beau Brungard, who ran for 71 yards — about 50 yards less than his average and more than 100 yards less than UND held Brungard to in 2024.

Brungard is in a quarterback running category of his own, still averaging more than 120 rushing yards per game. UND was the only team other than Michigan State to keep Brungard under 100 yards rushing.
