Rain is set to return to the UK by the end of the weekend as the Met Office confirms that the current high pressure will "lose its grip".
High pressure is currently dominating the UK weather , with a phenomenon known as anticyclonic gloom bringing grey, foggy weather to the country this week.
This means mild temperatures, low cloud, limited sunny spells and occasional drizzle is what faces us in the UK throughout the majority of the week.
Giving a summary of the week ahead, the Met Office said that anticyclonic gloom will "dominate", with average or slightly above average temperatures for the time of year, with generally "dry and settled" conditions.
