Officials recognized the hard work that went into repairing the Allen County Courthouse's limestone cornerstone as they rededicated the historic block today.

The cornerstone on the building's northeast side was damaged by a vandal who hit it with a sledgehammer in February 2024.

MSKTD & Associates of Fort Wayne served as the architect, and Central Building and Preservation, a Chicago-based masonry contractor, restored the cornerstone.

A section across the top of the cornerstone, about the 12 inches tall, now looks lighter in color than the original cornerstone. The damage destroyed the word “court” in the title “Allen County Court House,” and some other marks surrounded it.
