The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the police to ensure that no unauthorised entry takes place inside the private medical college and hospital in Durgapur, where a gang rape survivor is currently receiving treatment.

A vacation bench of Justice Shampa Dutt (Paul) passed the order while hearing a petition filed by an NGO. The plea sought directions to the West Bengal government to deploy adequate police personnel to secure the campus of the medical college in Paschim Bardhaman district.

Justice Shampa Dutt instructed the Durgapur Police Commissionerate to ensure strict access control at both the hospital and medical college premises. The court directed that no individual be allowed entry without proper authorisation .
