CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — The criminal case against a former Camden County magistrate judge earlier this year has been dropped.

A warrant dismissal document officially threw out the felony burglary charge against former judge William Ashe. In the warrant dismissal, Chief Assistant District Attorney Greg McConnell wrote that after 10+ hours of case review, it was determined the investigation was "lacking in probable cause." It had not yet gone to the Camden County Grand Jury.

The arrest of Ashe, along with Dennis Cox and Merina Watson, was announced in June by the Camden County Sheriff's Office. At the time, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it was believed Cox had used altered documents to illegally enter, steal from, and damage a property.
