Tension escalated in Rohtak on Tuesday after the family of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar, who died by suicide today, refused to hand over his body to the police and instead took it to their native village, Ladhot. The grieving family is demanding the arrest of IAS officer Amneet Puran Kumar, wife of the late IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, in connection with Sandeep’s death.

Sandeep’s family said they’ll cremate his body only after Amneet Puran Kumar is put behind bars.

The family alleged that ASI Sandeep was being “tortured” after he arrested the gunman of the late IPS officer, who himself died by suicide in Chandigarh on October 7.
