The Danville Public Schools Hall of Fame honored its inaugural class Saturday afternoon in what is expected to become a yearly tradition.
The new George Washington High School gym played host to the elegant affair in a tribute to former students who once roamed those hallways, along with Langston High School and Galileo Magnet High School.
Before it all began, Danville Public Schools Superintendent Angela Hairston was racing around the gym making sure everything was in order before the guests entered.
Hairston shared the idea with the school system’s educational foundation about two years ago.
She said the concept was to recognize excellence, acknowledge legacy and remember history.
