ROCHESTER — A machine used to measure the blood alcohol content of suspected impaired drivers in Olmsted County has been found to have an issue similar to what other counties have encountered, county officials confirmed Monday, Oct. 13.
Recent discoveries prompted an immediate order by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for a statewide inspection of the driving-while-intoxicated testing instruments. BCA is also asking counties to update their procedures to prevent future errors.
This comes less than a week after inspections by the BCA found incorrect installation procedures had affected some DataMaster DMT machines in Winona, Chippewa and Aitkin counties . Errors were found to have affected DWI cases in Hennepin County as well, BCA announced Monday.
In some cases, a gas cyl
