DENVER (KDVR) — Keep an eye out for mail from the State of Colorado. The Colorado Department of Revenue announced that the state is sending letters to thousands of taxpayers who may be eligible for refunds.
The department said that this year, the state is sending notices to at least 20,000 taxpayers who could be eligible for $8 million in unclaimed refunds.
The notice sent from the state has directions on how to review and file an amended tax return. This includes logging on to Revenue Online with the code in the notice, reviewing the data and filing the amended return. These returns are prefilled using existing data, and the department said it could take as little as 10 minutes online and save thousands of dollars.
