The makers of the extremely popular Uncrustables frozen sandwiches are suing national grocery store chain Trader Joe’s. In a lawsuit filed in federal court Monday, Smucker’s accused Trader Joe’s of infringing on trademarks related to the sandwiches, according to Reuters.
Smucker’s alleges that Trader Joe’s “Crustless peanut butter and strawberry jam” sandwiches copy the Uncrustables’ product design and packaging, CBS News Chicago reports.
In particular, Smucker’s points out the Trader Joe’s sandwich features a round shape with crimped edges, just like the Uncrustables product. The lawsuit also alleges that imagery used by Trader Joe’s on their packaging violates trademarked branding used to promote Uncrustables.
