AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin LGBTQ+ bar previously at risk of closure has now been acquired by new management.

A national company called PRIDE Holdings Group acquired the spot, which has served Austin's LGBTQ+ community for roughly 15 years.

“Cheer Up Charlie’s isn’t just a bar – it’s a symbol of community, resilience, and celebration,” Pride Holdings Group CEO Mike Barrett said in a statement. “We’re honored to carry forward its incredible legacy while giving it the resources to grow and thrive," he said in part.

According to a media release, co-founders Tamara Hoover and Maggie Lea will stay in leadership roles,
