A man accused of murdering his Canadian girlfriend on a remote Scottish island has outrageously claimed his paramour repeatedly “plunged” the knife into herself.

Aren Pearson, 41, told the High Court in Edinburgh how he was shocked as he watched in horror as Claire Leveque, 24, of Edmonton, killed herself at his mother’s Shetland Islands house on Feb. 11, 2024.

Pearson, also a Canadian, had been living on the island with his mother when Leveque arrived from Canada for a visit.

On the day of her death, Pearson claimed that Leveque had been drinking whisky before the incident. He claimed she was upset when he told her father, Clint, how much she was boozing.

The U.K. Sun reported that the accused killer was causing him problems, and he wanted Leveque to return to her father.
