SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane County judge had strong words about the man convicted of a brutal double homicide in 2008 . Judge Dean Chuang said if Justin Crenshaw was released, he'd kill again.

Now there's nearly no chance Crenshaw, 37, will ever walk free. Judge Chuang upheld a life without parole punishment during a two-day resentencing.

Justin Crenshaw has been in prison for the last 15 years on two consecutive life sentences for the double homicide of Sarah Clark and Tanner Pehl in February 2008. Prosecutors say Crenshaw set Pehl’s house on fire to hide his crime after stabbing his friends multiple times.

In 2021, Washington’s Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life sentences for offenders younger than 21 are unconstitutional, because the individuals are still developing mentally. C
