Man taunts Troopers after 100-mile-per-hour chase, later leaving note calling self ‘Undefeated driver #1’

NEAR CHISHOLM, Min. – Charging documents say a man drove from Minnesota Highway Patrol Trooper at more than 100-miles per hour leading them on a chase, and later left a note taunting them.

The report alleges a Trooper clocked Matthew Irgang, 43, Eveleth driving 101-miles per hour the evening of December 8, 2024.

He was allegedly driving on Highway 169 near Chisholm at the time.

The trooper reports they attempted to catch up to Irgang with the lights and siren activated on the squad. Irgang then got into town, the Trooper lost sight of Irgang and stopped the purist.

The Trooper was able to use surveillance video from businesses and the City of Chisholm to confirm the license plate of the Ford Explorer t
