There’s a quote attributed to the boxer Muhammad Ali that I often think about when out to eat at a restaurant.
“I don’t trust anyone who’s nice to me but rude to the waiter. Because they would treat me the same way if I were in that position.”
It’s a rule of thumb that came into sharp focus recently.
Of course it’s fine to flag down a waiter when there’s something wrong with your food, or perhaps the service is a little slow, but it’s all about the delivery - it’s about making a complaint in a respectful and fair way.
