Morrisons has been shuttering cafes across the country, with many having already closed their doors for good. It comes as the supermarket, which operates nearly 500 stores throughout the UK, to remain competitive in the cost of living crisis .

Alongside cafes, Morrisons has also ceased operations of several other services, including a number of Morrisons Daily convenience stores, and has announced plans to close some florists and meat counters.

This development follows Aldi's recent ascension over Morrisons to become the fourth largest supermarket chain in the UK. Originating from a humble egg and butter stall in 1899, Morrisons has evolved into a recognisable supermarket brand present in towns and cities nationwide
