KEARNEY COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) - A 13-year-old girl has died following a two-vehicle crash at a major intersection in Kearney County.
The Kearney County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 44 just before 12:45 p.m. Monday.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a Volkswagen Jette Se sedan driven by a 17-year-old from Sante Fe, New Mexico was traveling east on Highway 6 when the vehicle attempted to turn left onto Highway 44. The car was hit while it was turning.
The vehicle that hit the car was a 2019 Peterbilt truck pulling an empty tanker trailer driven by a 60-year-old man from O’Neill.
A 13-year-old female passenger in the car was air lifted to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney by Air Care, where she died.
