Morrisons is in the process of closing down dozens of its well-liked cafes.

A total of 52 will be shut, reports MirrorOnline .

The closures, which are happening this year, will come as sad news to many shoppers who have dined in the cafes over the years.

Yet the company, which is facing serious competition from supermarket rivals, says the changes are 'necessary'.

It all comes as the supermarket, which boasts almost 500 stores across the UK, undergoes restructuring to, it says, stay competitive in the current economic environment.
