A Kent Police K-9 unit helped find and catch a man fleeing on foot from the Washington State Patrol.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, officers were notified that a trooper was in foot pursuit in Kent, according to an Oct. 14 Kent Police Facebook post.

A man reportedly had fled from a traffic stop for reckless driving, bailed from his vehicle and ran along First Avenue South, according to police. Multiple Kent Police officers and State Patrol troopers responded and set a perimeter around the area.

A Kent Police K-9 unit of Officer Matthew Flesher and Gambit responded. After warnings that a K9 was about to search and no response from the suspect, Gambit was told to “seek,” according to police. Gambit followed the man’s scent to a back yard fence line. The suspect reportedly tried to hid
