(FOX40.COM) -- Nearly a week after South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace revealed she had stolen funds from a church, the mayor has officially sent out a resignation letter.

On Monday night, Wallace sent out a letter to the South Lake Tahoe City Clerk resigning effective immediately and also urged Mayor Pro Tem Cody Bass to do the same.

Bass was arrested on Sept. 25 for allegedly assaulting someone at a bar in Douglas County. The Mayor Pro Tem maintained that he was innocent in a social media post earlier this month and said he would not step down.

The next city council meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and the agenda will include a report on the status of city operations, council reorganization to select a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem, Council assignments to vacant outside board
