The initial results of Operation Impact in eastern Ontario show nearly 1,700 charges were laid on the roads and highways patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Operation Impact is a national education and enforcement campaign, targeting impaired, aggressive and distracted driving, as well as the use of seat belts and child car seats. These are the main causes of death and injury on Canadian roadways.

The initiative began Friday, October 10 and wrapped up on Monday, October 13 , 2025, involving officers from all East Region OPP Detachments and Traffic Units between Quinte West and Quebec, as well as throughout the Ottawa Valley.

The preliminary results show that OPP officers in East Region laid 1,698 charges, including:

Speeding – 982

Stunt driving – 29

Impaired driving –
