Projet Montréal mayoral candidate Luc Rabouin outlined his plan for public transit in Montreal on Tuesday, promising to add nine express bus lanes across the city.
Rabouin has campaigned on the idea of a new Réseau express bus network since the summer but presented its details on Tuesday.
“This is the lowest cost way to improve public transit service (in Montreal),” Rabouin told reporters, also stressing the need to quickly reduce traffic in the city.
Rabouin said he’s confident the network could be deployed on nine key arteries during his first mandate if elected. The goal is for the bus network to be as reliable as the métro, he said, featuring 24-hour service, reserved lanes, synchronized traffic lights and more frequent departures.
The initial rollout would be done in underserved a
