A father remains in a critical condition after an explosion at his family home in Hibbing.

The Peterson family saw their home on the 2200 block of 9th Avenue East destroyed in an explosion and fire on Sunday evening.

A GoFundMe campaign set up for the family says that Dave Peterson remains hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries, while wife Missy and their 4-year-old son Jax have been left temporarily homeless.

The fundraiser says Dave Peterson is "fighting for his life," while his wife and son "are trying to stay strong and process the unimaginable."

"They’ve lost everything they own and are now facing the difficult road of starting over from nothing," it continues.
