NEW BEDFORD — An elderly New Bedford woman who'd been rescued from a house fire on Thursday, Oct. 9 has died, Massachusetts Department of Fire Services announced in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
The 70-year-old woman was trapped on the third floor of 396-398 Elm St. on Oct. 9, during a fire first reported around 8:30 p.m., according to the release.
According to information from the New Bedford Fire Department, she was the only tenant rescued from the fire, which could be seen coming from the second floor. She was led to safety by firefighters down an interior staircase, NBFD reported.
According to the release and New Bedford Fire Chief Brian Medeiros, following the rescue, the victim was brought to St. Luke's Hospital in critical condition that night by New Bedford EMS, but
