Hundreds of dogs will be competing for prizes at the Coweta County Fairgrounds this weekend.

“Town & Country Weekend” will be a three-day dog show held at the fairgrounds by the Newnan Kennel Club on Oct. 17-19.

Approximately 600 to 700 dogs from across the Southeast are expected to participate in the competition.

Lu Dunham, president of the NKC, said each of the three days will feature a different show.

Dogs in the show will be judged on their structure, expression and presentation.

“It’s like a beauty pageant,” Dunham said.

Included in the show will be a Pee Wee Event on Saturday for kids who aren’t old enough to participate in the main competition.
