SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (WANE) -- After responding to a shooting on Tuesday, police suspect murder/suicide as the manner of death.

On Tuesday, at around 12:17 p.m., Spencer County Sheriff's office took a call from Jamie Adkins, 48, who stated that she had shot her husband.

Santa Claus Police, Indiana State Police, and Spencer County Sheriff's Office arrived at the house in Santa Claus and tried to speak with the woman, but were unable to make contact.

Officers entered the home, locating a deceased John Adkins, 49, and Jamie with gunshot wounds.

Jamie was taken to a Kentucky hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
