PHOENIX — Globe Mayor Al Gameros said his city needs help after unprecedented flooding from recent heavy rains.
“These are historic rains. We’ve never seen rains this severe in my whole life,” Gameros told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Outspoken with Bruce & Gaydos on Monday.
Currently, officials are trying to get federal assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), but that’s a long process.
Gameros urged people to donate through the United Fund of Globe-Miami to directly help businesses and residents.
On Monday, floodwaters ran through Highway 60, near city hall, Gameros said.
“Downtown, one of our bridges ran over again, flooding about a couple hundred feet into the downtown area,” he said. “Didn’t get into the businesses because we had prepared for it. The businesses p
