One person is dead following a crash in Ashland, New Hampshire early on Sunday morning, officials said.

Around 2:45 a.m., New Hampshire State Police responded to a report of a vehicle in flames about a mile south of Exit 24 on I-93, according to a New Hampshire State Police statement.

An initial investigation revealed that the car was traveling southbound when it went off the right side of the road, crashed, and caught on fire, according to police. The driver, whose identity was not released, was found dead at the scene.

It was not clear what caused the driver to leave the road. Nobody else was in the vehicle when it crashed, police said.

Police are investigating the crash.
