Former "Good Morning America" cohosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are engaged!

Nearly three years after their romance became a public scandal, the couple announced via their joint "Amy & TJ" podcast that they have been engaged for over a month now.

"I just want to say I'm so happy," Robach said on the Tuesday, Oct. 14 episode. "And I think that was the coolest thing that my parents said that they heard from other people. They might not have noticed the ring, but they noticed the joy."

Robach and Holmes said they wanted to inform the world of their relationship before news reports could beat them to it, seemingly alluding to their 2022 scandal.

"We've learned that lesson in the past, about our relationship, that we want to be the first to talk about it," Holmes quipped.

Robach said she has proudly and excitedly worn her engagement ring at "three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row," waiting for someone to point it out, but "it never happened."

"Maybe they were just being polite," she added. "I think a lot of people who are close to us, who love us and know us, understand what we've been through, so they don't want to pry."

The couple said they may share additional details about the proposal in the future, but are currently celebrating with family.

Holmes urged people not to believe news headlines concerning their romance, adding that only around 10 people know what happened and "I'm pretty sure they're not leaking."

The former "GMA3" co-hosts' relationship first faced immense scrutiny in 2022 when they were photographed holding hands and cozying up while both married to other people.

ABC pulled them off the air soon after because their rumored romance created "an internal and an external distraction."
