It’s nighttime at a wax museum and all the visitors have left.

Among the wax figures are several evil characters: the Joker from “Batman,” Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty,” and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Slowly, those characters come to life and engage in a ghostly ballet.

That’s the story of “Madame Tutu’s Nightmare at the Museum,” the Halloween-themed dance piece that Carolina Ballet Theatre is bringing back to the Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre, Oct. 24-25.

The family-friendly ballet, a brisk hour in length, features rock music mostly from the 1980s by such artists as Yes, Journey, Guns N’ Roses, Pink Floyd, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
