The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighborhood in September.

Police say 48-year-old Norman Labonte was shot near Main Street and Union Street shortly after 7 a.m. on Sept. 30.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Labonte with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been laid yet.

On the day of the shooting, the VPD said, “It is unknown at this time if the victim and suspect knew each other.”
