A fire tore through a double-wide mobile home in Lake Elsinore Tuesday, causing extensive damage and displacing a family of three, who escaped injury.

The blaze was reported at 1:42 p.m. Tuesday in the 21600 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, near Red Gum Drive on the east end of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames spreading rapidly in the mobile home, burning through the roof, with heavy smoke.

Firefighters established hose lays within minutes, gaining the upper hand and knocking down the blaze by 2:20 p.m., officials said.
