A 31-year-old Costa Mesa man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of killing a woman who had been found bleeding in a motel room.

Max Blumencranz was arrested Monday at the motel in the 1500 block of South Coast Drive at Susan Street, after 32-year-old Yu Wang of Laguna Niguel was found unresponsive in a room at 6 a.m.

Wang was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead, said Roxi Fyad, a spokeswoman for the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Police declined to release details of what caused her death. It is unclear what relationship the two had, but they were acquainted, Fyad said.
