$1M settlement in Sparks lawsuit between elderly woman, firefighter

A lawsuit over an altercation between an elderly woman feeding cats and a Sparks firefighter has been settled for $1 million, the city confirmed.

Maureen Hvegholm claimed Timothy Egan injured her in 2022 by knocking her headfirst onto concrete while she was feeding cats outside the fire station near Victorian Avenue.

At the time, she was 84 years old.
