As Gov. Lombardo announced an imminent special session to address “what the Legislature left unfinished,” speculations about the perspective policy debates have arisen. One of the most highly anticipated returns from the 83 rd legislative session is the film tax credit proposal designed for Hollywood giants Sony and Warner Brothers to open studios in Southern Nevada with the help of Howard Hughes Corp.

Previously, the proposal was voted out of the Assembly by 22-20, but engulfed in controversy, it never reached the Senate floor for votes before Sine Die. The final draft proposed extending $95 million in annual transferable film tax credits for a period of 15 years.
