AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - The Administrator says she took no pleasure providing her 2026 budget recommendation that went double for commissioners hearing them. “There is a deficit, and when working a deficit, you have to come up with a way you find some money,” said Commissioner Stacy Pulliam. The Administrator saying the shortfall is huge: 20 million dollars and is recommending commissioners find some money, proposing a property tax hike that would increase taxes on the average home in Augusta by $150 dollars. “Keep in mind that for a number of years, there's been a roll back, and I think that's great, but there were no additional revenues brought in,” said City Administrator Tameka Allen.
Commissioners who have opposed tax hikes in the past say times have changed.
“With inflation throughou
