NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Multiple agencies are investigating how 12-year-old Jacqueline Torres, whose body was discovered outside of an abandoned home, went missing for more than a year without anyone noticing.

"Evidence indicates that Jacqueline was the victim of prolonged physical abuse and malnourishment prior to her death," said an official with Farmington police on Monday.

Police tell News 8 the 12-year-old had been dead for nearly a year before her body was discovered.

Nobody alerted police that she was missing.

Police allege that Torres was murdered by her mother and her mother's boyfriend.

Jacqueline’s mother, 29-year-old Karla Garcia, her aunt, 28-year-old Jackelyn Garcia and Karla Garcia’s boyfriend, 30-year-old Jonatan Nanita, face charges in connection with her death.
