COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -A major new development is set to reshape one of Columbia’s busiest intersections, bringing hundreds of apartments and thousands of square feet of retail space to the corner of Bull Street and Elmwood Avenue.

Construction is expected to begin this spring on a 483,000-square-foot mixed-use project that developers say will revitalize what they call a “gateway intersection” into downtown Columbia.

“This intersection is a gateway intersection to downtown Columbia,” said J.P. Scurry, senior vice president at Crosland Barnes Group. “Bull Street and Elmwood both carry over 40,000 cars a day. I’d argue it’s probably one of the busiest intersections in Columbia, so seeing it redeveloped and revitalized — and being a part of that — is a lot of fun.”
