Belleville City Council approved a recommendation to have a 2026 pre-budget approval for the rental of voting system equipment for the 2026 municipal election in the amount of $142,400.

Back in March, council put out a procurement call for voting systems related to internet and telephone voting, and vote tabulators for paper ballots.

In a report to council, City Clerk Doug Irwin says following a number of submissions that were evaluated by staff, the highest ranked submission was deemed to be from Neuvote Systems Inc. who submitted for the internet & telephone voting system, along with vote tabulators for paper ballots.

The net cost to the City of Belleville would be $142,321.54.

Funding for the systems would come from the city’s Election Reserve Fund.
