CRESTWOOD, Ky. —
South Oldham High School is undergoing the largest renovation project in the history of the Oldham County School District.
Officials gathered at the school on Tuesday to break ground on the project.
The $93 million renovation project will affect every part of the school, either renovating it or gutting it to make room for something else. The project will add more than 100,000 sq. ft. of space to the school, which is enough room for around 500 more students.
Superintendent Claudette Herald said this expansion is long overdue.
"When you think about our student enrollment, not necessarily that it's growing in the moment, but we've had growth. So when we look at renovation projects, there's been a need there," said Herald.
The project will be done in four phases.
