The Mets are hiring Kai Correa to be their new bench coach, per a report from Pat Ragazzo. The 37-year-old served as the Giants’ bench coach from 2020 through 2023—and very briefly as the team’s interim manager for the final three games of the 2023 season after San Francisco fired Gabe Kapler.

From there, Correa joined the Cleveland Guardians as their major league field coordinator before adding “director of defense, baserunning, and game strategy” following the 2024 season.

Correa succeeds John Gibbons, who the Mets hired into that position following the 2023 season. And he’s set to become the Mets’ ninth bench coach since the conclusion of the 2015 season.
