Effective October 1, Americans and Canadians are now required to submit a digital entry form before visiting India. This "e-Arrival Card" will gradually replace the paper form all foreigners must fill out upon arrival in the Asian country. Other Asian countries, such as South Korea and Thailand have also implemented a digital arrival card system early this year.
While it's announced as a "mandatory" requirement, an October 7 notice from the Consulate General of India in Canada states that travelers will still have the option to use physical e-Arrival forms up to a maximum of six months or till further notice. But the Indian government highly recommends travelers to start using the new digitized forms.
