AUBURN, Wash. — From Auburn to Federal Way, people are concerned about convicted rapist Kevin Coe living in their neighborhood after he was released from four decades in prison.

"To have someone like that in my neighborhood scares the heck out of me," said an Auburn neighbor.

His decades-long sentence comes from just a single rape conviction, though investigators believe he is likely tied to dozens more.

Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus says she found out from news reports that Coe was already living in her city. After Coe was released, the Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) no longer had custody, meaning the notification fell on the King County Sheriff's Office.
