PHOENIX — Helicopters were called to assist in the rescue of a motorcyclist who went off an embankment on State Route 88 about three miles from Lost Dutchman State Park, according to officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Westbound lanes of SR 88 were closed while officials worked to rescue the motorcyclist but have since reopened.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office also said its aviation unit was requested to assist.
